A seam-bowling all-rounder from Noida, Shivam Mavi first came into the limelight by clocking over 140kph consistently at the 2018 U19 World Cup. Kolkata Knight Riders rewarded his potential, picking him for INR 3 crore at the 2018 TATA IPL auction. That year, Mavi made his debut in T20s, in List A as well as first-class cricket. Since then, injuries have become a recurring part of his career, halting him from getting regular opportunities. Mavi still kept fighting. In 2021, he bagged 11 wickets at an average of 21.18. In the 2022/23 Ranji Trophy season, he emerged as Uttar Pradesh’s highest wicket-taker, snapping 19 wickets at 16.78 runs apiece. Consequently, he featured in six T20Is for India early in 2023 and impressed on his debut with 4/22 against Sri Lanka. Apart from KKR, Mavi has also been with GT and LSG without getting any game time. He had a terrific 2025/26 Ranji Trophy season where he picked 18 wickets and also piled up his maiden first-class hundred (101*). Mavi has now been picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2026 TATA IPL and could develop into a vital cog in their all-rounders’ department.
